The Špilberk Castle(3,1 km)
The castle was founded by King Přemysl Otakar II in the 13th century. In the 14th century, it served as a residence castle for the margraves of Moravia. In the 17th century, it was rebuilt to become a monumental baroque fortress. Until the end of WW II, the castle served as a prison and military quarters.

The Obřany Ruin, close to Brno-Obřany (7.8 km)
Obřany is now a ruin of the once imposing castle of Gerhart of Zbraslav. Built after 1270, it was confiscated from Smil of Obřany in 1312; in 1315/1316 it was seized and destroyed by the Brno authorities. The ruin was discovered in 1957 and identified as the castle of the lords of Obřany in the 1970s. |

The Lelekovice Castle Remains(8.6 km)
The remains of the castle were discovered during an archeological research. In 1339, the castle was mentioned as part of a nobilitiy title for the first time; it was mentioned explicitly only in 1358. In 1401 it was seized and ruined by the Brno authorities and never renewed. After the research was finished the castle remains were covered by earth again.

The Veveří Castle (8.8 km)
The first mention of the castle originates from 1234. Later on, it served as prison for the opponents of Přemysl Otakar II. The castle was enlarged in the 13th and 14th centuries. It suffered from the Swedish siege in 1645, however, it was not conquerred. The present form of the castle originates from the 18th century. |

The nearly downfallen castle was built in the half of the 15th century. In 1464, the castle is mentioned as deserted. It probably perished during the wars between the margraves Jošt and Prokop. |

Nový Hrad u Adamova Castle (13.3 km)
After the downfall of the Old Castle, the former front bulwark from the second half of the 15th century took over its function. The courtyard is enclosed by the polygonal ramparts and surrounded by the castle buildings. The castle is further protected by a moat. The castle has been recently renovated.

Oloumoučany, The Devil´s Castle (14.9 km)
Unostentatious remains are all that is left of the castle built towards the end of the 13th or at the beginning of the 14th century. The castle owes its name to Jakub Čert z Bořitova (James the Devil of Bořitov). It was destroyed in the Czech-Hungarian wars during the second half of the 15th century. |

The Rudice Mill (17.5 km)
The windmill was built around 1865. It definitively stopped its function in 1945 along with the termination of the milling law. A permanent museum exposition has been installed and maintained there since. |

The Petrov Castle (3,1 km)
The original castle was rebuilt in neogothic style. While architect A. Prokop designed a more frugal finish of the incomplete tower, the investor – bishop and the chapter – implemented the representative double tower. Architect A. Kirstein regothicized the whole building, including the baroque facade. |

The Brno dam is a significant recreation resort of Brno. Located northwest of the city, it now takes up the Bystrc and Kníničky city quarters. It was constructed between 1936 and 1940 on the Svratka river and incorporated into the local wooded and rocky landscape in a sensitive way. |
